Walking on the Sea Ice in Isacke Passage
A Stunning Start to the New Year
We woke up to another stunning day in Antarctica—clear blue skies, no wind, and perfect stillness. It felt like the world was holding its breath as we floated well south of the Antarctic Circle. According to the radar, we were still the southernmost passenger ship on the entire planet.

Our morning adventure took us on a zodiac cruise through Isacke Passage, where the landscape felt otherworldly. The icebergs, with their bizarre and intricate shapes, looked like nature’s own inkblot tests, each one more stunning than the last.

We spotted crabeater seals lounging on the ice (despite their misleading name, they don’t actually eat crabs) and watched Adelie penguins slide playfully down icebergs.

One of the most memorable moments was beaching the zodiacs on the sea ice and taking a walk on this frozen landscape—a surreal experience.

Meanwhile, Andy snorkelled among the icebergs, marvelling at the icy world below the surface.
