Experimenting with Night Photography in Cape Schanck
(Location: Mornington Peninsula, Australia)
After our night sky photography weekend at Lake Eppalock, we were itching to try it on our own. The weather forecast looked good, and the moon was rising late, so we headed down to Cape Schanck.
We stayed in one of the lighthouse keepers cottages, which gives you great access to the lighthouse after hours. In typical Melbourne weather fashion, it started to rain just as we arrived, then cleared for a gorgeous sunset, and was clear all night. “Four seasons in a day.”

We’re Andy and Jennifer—two former corporate executives who chose long ago to prioritise experiences over stuff while pursuing our passions for travel and photography. From the Arctic to Antarctica, and most places in between, we’ve captured the world through our lenses and love sharing those stories. Our careers gave us the means, but our purpose is inspiring others to explore and helping people create images they’re proud of.
