15 Hours in Paris

(Location: Paris, France)

We were in London for the weekend, and decided to take the three-hour Chunnel train to Paris. We were literally there for 15 hours. Sleep is for wimps!

We stayed at the Paris Hilton (using points), which is practically beneath the Eiffel Tower. As soon as we arrived, we went to the Eiffel Tower and then took a cruise on the Seine on a Bateau Mouche. After the cruise, we walked to the Champs Elysees and found a restaurant off the main street. We both had many years of French in school, however neither of us retained said knowledge. We ordered shrimp, however when it arrived it looked raw and neither of us could remember the verb for “to cook”. We are also convinced that everything in Paris is served with Mayonnaise.

After dinner, we walked through the consulate district back to the hotel. We had a drink at the hotel bar – which had a very unusual lounge singer butchering “Take these Broken Wings” by Mister Mister. The next morning we woke up VERY early and walked the streets while the rest of Paris slept. We had the entire Trocadero all to ourselves. Then it was back to the Metro, to the Gare du Nord to get the Chunnel train back to London.
