Weekend in Hong Kong

(Location: Hong Kong, China)

We arranged for a two night layover in Hong Kong on our way back from Beijing. It’s kind of on the way, and we hadn’t been there.

We used points and stayed at The Conrad, one of the nicest large chain hotels that I’ve ever visited. Our room had a gorgeous view, and overtime we left, we returned to some little surprise. Macarons, wine, and even a stuffed bear. We also had access to the lounge, which had an even better view, and of course wine and snacks. The hotel was actually so nice that we didn’t feel like exploring that much !

  • The Conrad is attached to a very upscale mall. We actually went to a movie one night. Yes – it was in English. When you purchase tickets you actually select your seat… a little odd but makes it orderly I suppose.
  • The Peak is definitely worth a visit. The views are spectacular, and the funicular ride up provides good views of this posh section of the city.

  • We took the ferry over to Kowloon and walked along the waterfront. The views back over the harbour are amazing – next time we’ll do this at night as well.

  • We also went over to Aberdeen harbour and took the ferry out to Jumbo Restaurant for lunch. The food was good, though a little pricey, but overall it was a good experience.
