Port Lincoln – Take Three

There are few things that make me smile like snorkelling with sea lions, and Port Lincoln is one of the best places on the planet. The first time we visited (2015) I only had a GoPro (and it wasn’t turned on for THE_MOST_AMAZING_ENCOUNTER_EVER). The second time we visited (2017) we had the new camera housings, good visibility, and lots of curious and interactive sea lions. We only had one successful cage dive though, so had a voucher to return. This is how we wound up in Port Lincoln for Australia Day in 2019.

Port Lincoln is a seven hour drive from Adelaide, or an easy one hour flight. You know you are in regional Australia when the flight attendants ask if anyone needs a taxi and has the pilot call ahead.

This time, we got an AirBNB so we would have more space and a kitchen. The location was a short drive to where the boats departs, and we would definitely stay there again.

We did three days with Calypso Star Charters. The sea lions never disappoint, but we got skunked with the great whites. So now we have more vouchers 🙂
